2001 NJSIAA/Bob's Store District XV Team Champions - Clifton Clifton again beat out Lyndhurst for the District XV team championship, accumulating 158.5 points while the Golden Bears finished in the runnerup slot with 140points, edging Passaic by three points with Hasbrouck Heights in fourth place. Last year, the Mustangs won by a mere 2.5 points over Lydnhurst. Lyndhurst's Dennis McSweeney (140) and Clifton's Rob Vargo (171) four-peated as District XV championshile while Morgan Horner (189) of Hasbrouck Heights three-peated. The Clifton duo of Craig Bleaken (125) and Harry Ortiz (130) alond with Wood-Ridge's Mike Marotta successfully defended their titles. Horner, who finisjhed 7-8 in last year's state tournament at 171-pounds, was chosen the Outstanding Wrestler. He won his first two bouts with first period falls and posted a 17-2 technical fall over Ridgefield Park's Dom Picinich in the 189-pound title bout. Lyndhurst's Mike Scaglione upset Passaic County champion and top-seeded Wisam Darwish of Passaic in the 160-pound championship match, posting a 10-5 decision. Wood-Ridge had a pair of winners in the Marotta brothers as Mike repeated as a gold medalist, winning the 112-pound title after taking the 103-pound crown last year, and Joe picked up his first gold medal in winning the 135-pound bracket. mmmmmmmm mmmmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmmmmmmm
